PAPER [PYPR]

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

Today using the darker grey and black pigmented abaca ; I added a layer of Cat Tail seeds.
Not sure if this is as successful as I would like it to be but I have been a asked to make paper that is rough....this certainly has a roughness to it..

Found this in a book at the V and A as an example of early printing...it is in the new wing with other English crafts... will have to go back and look for other plant pages

As I got a call from a client wanting some dark papers I thought I would try out my new circular mould to use up all the shiny bright pulps.......

 Then........time to get darker......

catch - up CSM

Not having enough plastic to restrain dry the papers
we rolled them onto the tiled walls...
really looked more like a huge science experiment...double wow!

catch - up CSM

I taught a weeks course at Central St Martins last month and I am just getting round to  looking at all the photos I took of my students work. Really an inspiring group of students......they were there to learn about as many papermaking processes: that could be used in their own practice...a week of experimentation!!

catch - up CSM

I brought out my new circular mould and deckles...let them use them...wow...looks like something you would see under the microscope......

and asked for a donation from each student

paste paper revisited

Having moved into my own flat I now have my 'making table' in my kitchen enabling me to make and do at any spare or organised time.

Seemingly unable to get some washing soda to process papermaking fibres because of memory failer when shopping (that annoying occurrence when in a supermarket and being distracted by items unnecessary - a fiendish plot by marketing). I really wanted to do something creative so I thought I would revisit paste paper ... a medium that can often be rather frustrating because I want to push it away from the usual and very often end-up annoyed and thinking that I have lost my creativity!

Any way.... it took a few flops but starting to get back in the right mind set...
