Another Hollander Beater

This one belongs to Nick Peterson and resides in Ware.....Herts.

He has a great workshop in his back garden

with all things pertaining to Western papermaking - very nice!

About time!!

I have been making handmade paper since 1991 and have never used a Hollander Beater!!

Why - well I haven't had access to one and cannot afford to buy one!

So, today I was able to use Regina Beater at Morley College. There is a great paper making course there run by Penny Boylan. http://www.morleycollege.ac.uk/.

These images show the linen sheets being made into pulp which took several hours to beat.

This is in preparation for the Friends of Dard Hunter Keepsake folder which will also include abaca, gampi and daffodil plant fibers ........I will show the progress as it happens!!!

This morning I'm preparing the rose petals so I can incorporate them into papers this afternoon. This is for the new manual I'm making for Artsmart.

Getting ready for Artsmart - I need items that have an affordable pricepoint - so more cards....

But - really I'm just having fun working up new ideas to place my small papers in a

considered context.
